Zubovic Earns PSU Offer

Penn State extended another scholarship along the offensive line Saturday, this one going to Belle Vernon, Pa., offensive tackle Blake Zubovic.
Now up to 13 scholarship offers - Boston College, Maryland, Minnesota, N.C. State, Northwestern, Pitt, Virginia and West Virginia, to name a few - the 6-foot-4, 311 pound offensive tackle has gained the attention of most of the region’s top programs. However, he’s made it clear in recent months that Penn State is a school he’d like to see offer.
“I loved the support and family atmosphere of PSU football,” said Zubovic, following his unofficial visit this past weekend. “I got to meet most of the coaches and see the campus, a practice, the academic building and the actual football facilities, as well as Beaver Stadium.
“This offer was really big to me and I was extremely excited to get up there. I enjoyed my visit thoroughly and plan to get back for the spring game.”
In addition to talking X’s and O’s with offensive line coach Matt Limegrover, Zubovic was given the opportunity to meet with head coach James Franklin in his office before heading home. He said that he appreciated the passion that both coaches showed.
“We talked about what was important for me in a school and why they thought I would be a good fit for PSU…I really like how down-to-earth Coach Franklin was with me and the passion he has for PSU football. Also, Coach Limegrover seems to be a good coach. He seems like he wants to get the most out of his own players, which is a great trait in any coach because it allows you to be the best you can be.”
So far, Zubovic has been able to visit Maryland, Pitt, Temple, Virginia and West Virginia. He’s currently a three-star prospect, coming in at No. 35 overall at offensive tackle and No. 15 in Pennsylvania for the Class of 2018.
