Joining Rivals100 prospect Justin Shorter, Anderson-Butts is the second WR added to Penn State’s Class of 2018. He’s the fifth commit in the class who is a native of Pennsylvania and and he is the third to declare for the Nittany Lions in as many days. On Friday, the coaching staff added four-star defensive lineman Judge Culpepper of Tampa, Fla. Earlier this morning, three-star quarterback Will Levis of Middletown, Conn., also announced his commitment.

At 6-foot, 197 pounds, Anderson-Butts could play a variety of WR positions within PSU’s offensive scheme. As a junior for the Cougars, wearing No. 13, he often lined up as flanker or at split end. He finished with 38 total receptions for 779 yards and 10 touchdowns.

The recruitment for Anderson-Butts has been ongoing for more than two years. Temple became his first scholarship offer in June 2015. Dozens followed, including from notable programs like Arizona, Florida, Louisville, Michigan State, Nebraska, Notre Dame, Oregon, Virginia Tech and West Virginia.

Penn State offered almost two years ago to the day, when Anderson-Butts was on campus for the 2015 Lasch Bash. He went on to check out other programs and Pitt, Rutgers and WVU began to emerge as the Nittany Lions’ top competition.

Blue White Illustrated will have more on Anderson-Butts’ commitment in the near future.
