A native of Richmond, Va., Chavis first began his college football career with Virginia before transferring to Nassau. After spending two seasons with NCC after a redshirt season with the Cavaliers, Chavis has two years to complete two seasons of eligibility.

During his career at NCC, Chavis helped his team to the Northeast Football Conference Championship with a perfect 10-0 record. He was selected to the All-Northeast Football Conference first team. In his first season with NCC, he collected all-conference second-team honors.

Chavis is expected to be on campus for the first official practice, which begins Thursday evening.
