Signed: Brenton Strange

WHAT HE DID: During the 2018 season, Strange finished with 1,083 yards receiving and nine touchdowns. He added 65 tackles on defense, 10 tackles for loss, six sacks and three interceptions. For his career, he racked up 2,822 receiving yards on 186 catches (14.3 YPC). Strange scored 37 total touchdowns, including seven rushing and four that came on defense. He holds Parkersburg's school records for the most receptions and receiving yards for both a single-season and career.

WHAT HE WON: Strange started all four seasons at Parkersburg. Following back-to-back 4-6 seasons as an underclassmen, the Big Reds went a combined 14-9 during his final two seasons. In 2018, he earned first-team All-MSAC honors, as well as first-team all-state in West Virginia's Class AAA. He was also part of USA Today's ALL-USA West Virginia team. Strange went from unranked to a four-star prospect in the summer of 2018. He finished ranked No. 221 overall in the Rivals250, sixth at tight end and third overall in West Virginia.

WHERE HE VISITED: Heading into the summer before his senior season, Strange had offers from only Albany and Rutgers. By the end of the summer, he held 16 total scholarships, including such schools as Louisville, Maryland, Notre Dame, Ohio State, Purdue and West Virginia. Penn State was one of the last programs to offer following a camp at the end of July. Once he took his official visit to State College for the Ohio State game, that was all he needed to see, verbally committing Oct. 1.

QUOTABLE: “I would describe myself as a receiver in a tight end’s body. I have the frame for a tight end. I'm going to build on that frame and put some weight on and I'll be a complete tight end, I believe.”
