Signed: Jaquan Brisker

WHAT HE DID: Playing a hybrid outside linebacker position, Brisker totaled 64 tackles this past season, including 17 that went for a loss of yards. He also had nine sacks, five pass breakups, one forced fumble and a fumble return for a touchdown. His total number of tackles and sacks ranked among the top 25 junior college players in the country in 2018. When he played strictly safety in 2017, Brisker totaled 54 tackles, including 4.5 tackles for loss, four interceptions and four pass breakups.

WHAT HE WON: Lackawanna finished its 2018 season undefeated, 11-0, for the first time in school history. In addition to winning its conference, the Falcons won the El Toro Bowl, beating defending NJCAA champion Arizona Western. It earned Lackawanna a No. 6 overall ranking by the NJCAA. In addition to being named the Defensive MVP of the bowl game, Brisker was named Defensive Player of the Year in the Northeast Football Conference and a first-team All-Northeast Conference selection. He was named Player of the Week three-times in 2018 for the NEC Conference. Rivals.com gave him a three-star rating.

WHERE HE VISITED: Brisker earned offers from Alabama, Cincinnati, Maryland, Mississippi State, Ole Miss, Pittsburgh and Utah, but his only other visit – aside from Penn State – was to Pitt. He committed to the Nittany Lions in May 2018.

QUOTABLE: “Brisker’s responsibility this season was to just stop our opponent’s main offensive player or package. That’s really what it came down to this year,” Lackawanna assistant coach Josh Pardini said. “He’s our top player and he’s versatile enough that we can shift him around to disrupt our opponent. We had him play on the line of scrimmage at times. We had him play [middle linebacker], at corner and at safety. He really was all over the place for us this season.”
