Signed: Hakeem Beamon

WHAT HE DID: Before his senior season, Beamon transferred to Manchester High School in Midlothian, Va., and it proved a wise decision. He not only totaled 45 tackles, but he also added 16 tackles for loss and 5.5 sacks. Beamon was the best player on a defense that allowed an average of just 4.6 points through 15 games. He attended L. C. Bird High School in Chesterfield the previous years.

WHAT HE WON: In 2018, Manchester went 15-0, winning the Virginia Class 6A State Championship.Beamon was named the Region B Defensive Player of the Year and was also part of USA Today's ALL-USA Virginia team. A three-star prospect, Beamon ranked No. 47 at strong-side defensive end and No. 17 overall in Virginia.

WHERE HE VISITED: Beamon previously committed to North Carolina before switching his allegiance to Penn State in the beginning of June. In addition to visiting Chapel Hill, he had also checked out Alabama, Georgia, Ohio State and Virginia Tech. Maryland, South Carolina, Virginia and West Virginia were some other notable schools that offered.

QUOTABLE: "Beamon is a great prospect for what Penn State likes to do with their defensive line," Rivals.com Mid-Atlantic recruiting analyst Adam Friedman said. "He has a big frame to fill out and has really come a long way on the technical side of his game. Once the Penn State strength and conditioning staff get a hold of Beamon, he is going to be a real force for the Nittany Lions. His versatility will allow him to stay on the field in every situation, playing defensive end and possibly moving to the interior of the defensive line in passing situations."
