Signed: Marquis Wilson

WHAT HE DID: Wilson did not play the 2018 season after transferring back to Windsor High School, his local school. He had previously attended prep school at Avon Old Farms for 2017, where he played his fourth season of Connecticut high school football, exhausting his eligibility. During his final two seasons, Wilson totaled 98 tackles and 11 interceptions in 22 games.

WHAT HE WON: Although he didn’t play in 2018, Wilson earned academic high honors during the winter semester at Windsor. During his year at Avon Old Farms, he earned 2017 first-team All-New England and All-Erickson honors and was named the league's Defensive Player of the Year. Wilson finished as a three-star prospect on Rivals.com. He's the fourth-ranked player in Connecticut.

WHERE HE VISITED: Before Wilson’s commitment in May 2018, Syracuse was the school that was tied with Penn State. He also visited UConn and Temple, and although he didn’t get to visit Iowa or Nebraska, those offers grabbed his attention, too. Other notable offers included Alabama, Florida, Florida State, Ohio State, Virginia Tech and Wisconsin.

QUOTABLE: “Whether it was Coach [Tim] Banks, Coach [Justin] King or Coach [Terry] Smith, I was talking to all of them. I also liked that it was always a different conversation with the different coaches. It wasn’t always just them trying to sell me on Penn State. That really helped me become comfortable with them and it showed me that they care about me and about more than just me being a good football player for them. Also, I didn’t mention Coach [James] Franklin. Coach Franklin was always speaking with me when he got the chance. It was always a new conversation, always about more than football. I felt like that allowed me to really get to know them.”
