PSU and 2022 commit part ways; why latest loss stung so much: Newsstand

Penn State-Ohio State week is here, albeit with a lot less anticipation than we previously expected.

The Buckeyes are rolling and have been installed as huge favorites ahead of Saturday's 7:30 p.m. showdown on ABC, while the Nittany Lions are reeling and trying to get back to their winning ways after dropping back-to-back contests.

In today's newsstand, we look at headlines surrounding the program and tweets to know, including one that announced a decommitment from the Class of 2022.

Tweets of the day

We'll start with three-star corner Jordan Allen announcing his decommitment on Monday morning. This is not in reaction to the Illinois loss as it was going this way before that game since the senior visited Ole Miss recently.

We'll share both his tweet and a good reminder of how this process sometimes plays out from current commit Cam Miller's trainer.

Penn State dropped as expected in the Coaches and AP top-25 polls following its second loss of the season.

Chris Godwin and Mike Gesicki scored touchdowns on Sunday during NFL action.

Ohio State is a 17.5-point favorite over the Nittany Lions entering a big weekend in the Big Ten East race.

Quote of the day

"Probably the hardest part of my job is, after a tough loss, to stand to there in the locker room and give them what they need to hear at that moment. My natural inclination is to start coaching and go over the issues that we had today on the field. It's not the right time for it. We'll save that till Sunday. It's not my natural the way I'm kind of wired. So, it's the hardest part of my job standing up there in front of the team, the coaches, the trainers and obviously all the players and address those things after a tough loss."

--PSU coach James Franklin on his message to the team after Saturday's loss.
