Four-Star WR KeAndre Lambert is Ready to Decide

Four-star wide receiver KeAndre Lambert is ready to wrap up his recruitment.

A native of Norfolk, Va., Lambert is set to announce his decision Friday in front of friends and family at his school’s homecoming pep rally. After earning more than 30 scholarship offers, he said he’s still in contact with a handful of schools, including Penn State.

Lambert was a top performer at the Baltimore Under Armour camp in April.

“We have a really strong relationship,” Lambert said, referring to Penn State wide receiver coach Gerad Parker. “He’s hitting me up here and there. We’re always staying in touch with each other. He’s been telling me how he wants to use me in his offense and what they’re really focusing on this season. We’ve talked about that stuff a lot, but we also just talk about life and how each other is doing. It’s a good a relationship. He thinks I’d be a good fit for them.”

Lambert earned an offer from the Nittany Lions way back in May 2018. At the time, Parker was still at Duke. In fact, he actually offered Lambert just a few weeks after Penn State. The two spoke casually at the time, but it wasn’t until Parker made the move to Penn State in January that they became close.

“You can tell that Coach Parker is real passionate about their jobs and their team. I know Coach Parker loves to coach his guys," said Lambert. "Whenever he hits me up, he has high energy and just shows me how much of a priority I am with him. They really want me and they do everything they can to show me that. That’s what I’m looking for.

"So, it’s a great fit. Knowing that he’s someone that really cares about his guys, cares about making them better players. He’ll help me get to the next level.”

Since last season, Lambert has taken three visits to State College. His most recent trip was in June for an official visit. He also made the trip in February for a junior day. However, it was his first visit, which was for the White Out against Ohio State in Sept. 2018, that may have left the most lasting impression.

“I’ve been to the Ohio State White Out. Those games are crazy," said Lambert. "They probably have the best fans, or at least, one of the best fans bases in the entire country. That atmosphere was ridiculous. It was truly a big-time atmosphere. I would love to play in something like that. That’s one thing that really stands out about the school. Their fans and game day [atmosphere] was awesome.”

In addition to the Nittany Lions, Lambert said he’s still considering a handful of schools. North Carolina was the only other program that hosted him for an official visit. Virginia Tech was hoping to get him on campus this month, but the trip never materialized.

“It hasn’t been too hectic," Lambert said, when asked about the weeks leading up to his commitment. "I’m still texting and talking with a few schools. UNC has been in contact. I’m still considering [Virginia] Tech and Georgia. I’ve been in contact with Florida and Tennessee. [Virginia] is another school I’m talking with. So, it hasn’t been too hectic. I’m ready for it to be over with, but I appreciate all of these schools and coaches.”

Maury’s homecoming pep rally is expected to begin at 12:30 PM Friday. Lambert plans to announce his decision towards the end, which he estimates will be around 1:15 PM.

Below are Lambert's highlights from his game against Lake Taylor earlier this season. He had five catches for 155 yards and four touchdowns in the game, earning Hardee's High School Player of the Week honors in his region.
