Penn State picks Whiteout date; Lions land a 5-star, more: Daily newsstand

Penn State has finished its time at Big Ten Media Days, but there is still plenty to discuss around Lions land.

That's always the case after a day where the Lions landed a five-star recruit in Dani Dennis-Sutton and also did multiple hours of interviews in Indianapolis.

Let's take a look at the top headlines and tweets on July 23.

Tweets of the day

The Lions will have their annual Whiteout game against Auburn but also scheduled a student Whiteout for Michigan.

Something tells us that the matchup with the Wolverines will end up as a full stadium Whiteout, too, but time will tell.

Other game themes have also been released:

James Franklin turned into a media member on Thursday.

Trust us, that was a temporary decision.

The head coach had some fun and asked questions of both PJ Mustipher and Tariq Castro-Fields.

We buried it a little bit, but the biggest news to come out of Thursday was Dennis-Sutton's commitment.

He is the highest-rated commit since Micah Parsons, and is the No. 1 defensive end in the country.

It's not Penn State related, but James Franklin was asked to address the Texas and Oklahoma to the SEC reports (he declined to), and well, it seems to be moving fast, according to reports.

Quote of the day

“It really just came down to relationships. I feel like I have a great relationship with all of their coaches,” Dennis-Sutton said. “Also, they produce players. They’ve done a great job getting the most out of guys. I just trust their process and I like the way they go about it. It really comes down to trust.”

--Dani Dennis-Sutton to BWI's Ryan Snyder on why he picked Penn State.
