Penn State gets its quarterback for Class of 2018

Penn State has its quarterback for the Class of 2018.

Three-star Will Levis of Middletown, Conn., announced via Twitter Saturday morning that he was joining the Nittany Lions. The decision comes after Levis camped with the coaching staff Friday night. His performance then led to a scholarship offer from head coach James Franklin.

His trip to Penn State followed camp stops at Florida State, Iowa, UConn, North Carolina and Syracuse previously this summer. Levis earned an offer following his performance at each school.

Prior to arriving at Penn State for Friday's camp showing, Levis informed Blue White Illustrated that offensive coordinator Joe Moorhead and Franklin were interested in seeing him throw in person before finalizing a scholarship offer.

“I’ve mostly been in contact with Coach Moorhead and I’ve spoken with Coach Franklin on the phone a couple times as well,” Levis said. “They’re very interested, say I can do everything they’re looking for in a QB. They just need to see me throw and work out in person before any decision is made.”

Levis had previously visited PSU for the Iowa game last fall but it wasn't until this summer when the coaching staff increased the pursuit of the signal caller. The decision to do so came after the de-commitment of Justin Fields, who decided to open his recruitment shortly after being rated as a five-star prospect by Rivals.com

Blue White Illustrated will have more from Levis in the following days.

Below are highlights from Levis' performance at Friday night's camp, that helped earn him an offer from the coaching staff.
