Breaking Down Penn State's Top 2022 Running Backs Prospects

There's no shortage of elite running backs in the Class of 2022

It's still unclear if Penn State will take a running back in this year's Class of 2021, but there's one thing that is clear: 2022 is very deep at the position.

That helps explain why the Nittany Lions have already extended 22 verbal scholarship offers to running backs all across the country. To get a better feel for who you should be following closely in the months ahead, we break down some of the staff's top overall prospects at the position:

Pennsylvania prospect Nick Singleton has been on campus multiple times already.

Gibbs is arguably Seider's top running back prospect in Florida for 2022. It's still unclear how much interest he has in Penn State, but Gibbs is contacting Seider a few times a month, so there is some contact. I expect Seider to push hard for him once he can initiate conversations in September. Gibbs has only been able to visit Florida and Miami so far. In nine games last season, he averaged 10.2 yards per carry (107 carries for 1,092 yards) and scored 17 touchdowns. Gibbs had even better numbers in 2018, totaling 1,503 yards on 135 carries (11.1 YPC) and 21 touchdowns. He was a Freshman All-American by MaxPreps that season.
