Penn State has set its fourth and final satellite camp of the summer, which will take place Friday, June 2 at Mercer University in Macon, Ga.

Since taking over the program, head coach James Franklin and his assistants have made Georgia, most notably the Greater Atlanta region, one of their key territories. It’s proven to be a wise decision, as the Nittany Lions have pulled in at least one prospect from the region in all but one recruiting class. It began with cornerback Grant Haley in 2014. They then added kicker Alex Barbir and punter Blake Gillikin in 2016, followed by cornerback D.J. Brown in 2017. Now, Penn State holds a commitment from four-star quarterback Justin Fields in its Class of 2018. As long as the Kennesaw native ends up signing with the Nittany Lions, Fields will be their biggest pull yet from the Peach State.

In addition to the camp at Mercer, Penn State will also attend three other satellite camps in the first few weeks of June. Following their first Elite Prospect Camp in State College on Saturday, June 3, Franklin and his staff will make their way to Murfreesboro, Tenn., for a camp at Middle Tennessee State University on Sunday, June 4. They’ll then head to the tidewater region of Virginia later that week, Friday, June 9, for Old Dominion’s Bobby Wilder Camp. The Nittany Lions have been regularly attending camps at Old Dominion for the past few years. The final satellite camp will take place on Wednesday, June 14, when the staff heads to Northern Illinois University outside of Chicago. Penn State is expected to be joined by Brett Bielema and his assistant coaches from Arkansas that afternoon.

The final two on-campus Elite Prospect Camps are scheduled for Sunday, June 11, and Friday, June 16. The Nittany Lions will also host their third annual Lion Strong 7-on-7 and Big Man Challenge the following day, Saturday, June 17. The fifth and final on-campus camp is expected to come in July. That camp, which is being labeled as the Underclass Showcase, is expected to take place inside Beaver Stadium on Sunday, July 16, one day after the staff hosts its annual Lasch Bash barbecue.
