Penn State announces four departures

Penn State made some adjustments to the official roster Friday, as four former Nittany Lions will move on and no longer be members of the football team.
University spokesman Jeff Nelson confirmed that wide receiver Richy Anderson, offensive lineman Anthony Alosi, wide receiver Jonathan Warner and quarterback Austin Whipple are no longer with the program. Anderson, Alosi and Warner were on scholarship, while Whipple was a walk-on.

In a prepared statement, head coach James Franklin said, "We thank them for their contributions to the program and wish them well in their future academic and athletic endeavors."
Anderson, who caught 13 passes for 111 yards during 11 games in 2013, has been granted his release. Whipple, who redshirted last season, also has plans to transfer. Alosi and Warner, meanwhile, are likely to remain at Penn State.
Warner redshirted his first season on campus and did not record any catches during his redshirt freshman season. Alosi, meanwhile, has seen limited action in three complete seasons at Penn State. Alosi was charged with simple assault in March.
