Four-star tight end Brenton Strange of Parkersburg, W. Va., announced via Twitter Monday evening that he had ended his recruitment following his latest visit to University Park this weekend.

Back in July, the 6-foot-4, 217 pound Rivals250 prospect picked up an offer from Penn State following a solid performance during the staff's final prospect camp of the summer. In the weeks that followed, it became clear that the Nittany Lions had emerged as the team to beat, but Strange decided to hold off, electing to visit this weekend before taking that next step.

"I always had Penn State at the top. I always liked them a lot and this weekend I just got that feeling," Strange said. "I've gotten to know Coach Rahne and Coach Bowen well. I know how their offense goes. I got to see how they used [Mike] Gesicki and how they're using Pat [Freiermuth] now.

"I just know that this is the perfect fit for me. I just wanted to come back to campus and see that game day atmosphere for myself. I wanted to experience everything a little bit more. Penn State has been my leader for awhile now and I knew Saturday that I was probably going to do this. I just didn't make it official until earlier today."

Considered one of the top five tight ends in the senior class who had yet to make a commitment, Strange had also been considering Ohio State. Purdue, Notre Dame, North Carolina and Louisville. He had taken an official visit to see the Boilermakers in June and was considering visits elsewhere this fall. However, that's no longer the case.

"It's always good to hang out with the coaches and everyone on their staff, but this weekend I got to hang out with the freshman quarterback, Will Levis, and a lot of the other guys. That was really cool. I felt real comfortable with all the guys. I also really enjoyed going over film with Coach Bowen. That's kind of when I knew I was going to go all in."

In four games, Strange has totaled 524 total yards of offense, scoring four touchdowns. In the beginning of the season, he went from an unranked three-star to a member of the Rivals250, coming in at No. 212 overall.
