Newbill earns LeBron James Skills Academy invite

The good news for the Penn State men's basketball program continues.
Wednesday night, less than 24 hours after landing a huge verbal commitment from Rivals150 guard Josh Reaves, current Penn State star guard D.J. Newbill learned he's been invited to the LeBron James Skills Academy in Las Vegas next week.

Chosen among the 30 best collegiate basketball players in the country, Newbill scored an invitation after an impressive showing at the Kevin Durant Skills Academy last weekend in Washington D.C. He'll be joined by 80 of the best high school hoopers at the extremely competitive four-day camp.
"I was happy to be invited to the Kevin Durant academy to play with some of the top guys in the country, and now I am ecstatic to be invited to the LeBron camp," Newbill said via press release. "This shows that all the hard work from the last few years is paying off and I am grateful to my teammates and the coaching staff for helping me to get to this point."
Newbill returns as the Nittany Lions' leading scorer (17.8 ppg) from last season in which he was named a second-team All-Big Ten selection.
