Lynn gets back to work

As one of Penn State's most solid starters a year ago, cornerback D'Anton Lynn build a reputation as one of the top returning players at his position in the conference.
Lynn spent the school's first summer session at home in Texas, but returned to campus in late June to train with the team. He will also be one of three players representing Penn State at next week's Big Ten Media Days in Chicago.

The returning starter talked about his summer so far and what he expects from the defensive backfield this fall.
The entire interview will appear on the right, and the transcript will follow below.
On what the Lift for Life means to the team...
"It gives us a chance to do something good for the community and raise some money for kidney cancer research."
On what the best part of the day is for the team...
"The best part of the day is to have everyone get their eyes on us and watch us work out. It's definitely not the workout, though. The workout is probably the worst part."
On the hardest part of the Lift for Life...
"I would say the hardest part for me is probably the Versa-Climber over there, the thing where you have to run, it's probably the toughest thing for me. It's just tiring, because you're already dead by the time you get there. It's hard."
On what he's been working on this summer...
"I actually just got back. I've only been here for about a week. I was back home in Texas for the first session."
On what he needs to do as a leader in the secondary this season...
"First and foremost, just lead by example. We're in the offseason, we're running three days a week and lifting. Just make sure I'm in the front of the pack in all the runs and be working hard in the weight room to set a good example for the younger kids. As far as the secondary goes, we're all pretty experienced, so I would assume that the other three starters are doing the same thing."
On his position this fall...
"I'm at corner right now. I'm happy with that."
On looking forward to the challenge of covering the other team's best receiver...
"I really look forward to it. It's the best part of playing. The competition."
On the overall expectations this season...
"We really don't mind that at all. We really don't pay attention to the hype. We know what we're capable of. We have a good young team, we're just going to take it one game at a time."
On his 7-on-7 work this summer...
"I've been involved in one so far this summer, a couple of days ago. That's the only one I've been involved with. You can just tell everyone is working hard. Everyone has improved, all the quarterbacks look great, so it will be a good competition in camp."
On a surprise player this year...
"Probably one of the younger receivers that played last year. Maybe like Justin Brown or Shawney Kersey, someone like that. They have a lot of talent, so I'm expecting them to have pretty big years."
