The running back position in 2019 is very deep and strong. One of the best is Tyrion Davis of Baton Rouge (La.) Southern Lab. He is a 6-foot-1, 215 powerful back with speed, balance and vision and although he is committed to the hometown Tigers, other schools have not backed off.

Davis is giving some a look back too.

"I am still committed to LSU and I would say I am a strong commitment, but I am still going to take my five [official] visits and explore my options," said Davis. "I was just at LSU Wednesday and I am there a lot because it is so close, but I still have to make sure of things and find the best fit for me.

"This is a big decision, so I am still talking to other schools and I have to keep looking around."

The most recent school to offer Davis, the No. 12-ranked running back in the country is Georgia. He spoke to Georgia running backs coach Dell McGee and the Bulldogs now have his attention.

"Coach McGee (Rivals' Recruiter of the Year) is a great man and he just helped Georgia sign a great recruiting class. Georgia is a very good program, they have had some great running backs and I want to get out and see them now."

The school Georgia fell to in the National Championship game had Davis on campus for a game in the fall after offering him at camp over the summer. The Crimson Tide is on LSU's heels.

"I love Alabama," said Davis. "I know some of the players, the program is great and they are really high up there for me. I know I will be back there. They are one of the schools I plan to take an official visit to."

One official visit is already being discussed and it is not to an SEC school. A school recruiting Davis as hard as anyone is Oklahoma. The Sooners will receive an official visit from Davis and he cannot wait.

"I really want to get out there to Oklahoma and see what it is like. They have produced some great backs that have done very well in their offense. They have put running backs into the NFL after three years and that is impressive.

"I really like running backs coach [Jay] Boulware; he is a family guy and I like that. I have been talking to coach Lincoln Riley a lot too and I like his offense and he is a good guy and coach too."

Another school Davis is eyeing is Penn State. New running backs coach Ja'Juan Seider was recruiting the Boot State back when he was at Florida before he went north to Happy Valley.

The two have a good connection.

"It is really all about coach Seider with Penn State," said Davis. "We talk as much or more than I do with any other coach. I like him as a person, he gets guys to the NFL and I want to get up there for a visit.

"I don't know a lot about Penn State yet, but I know about Saquon Barkley, I know they have had great players and I have heard it like family there, so I want to check it out."

Whether it is Penn State, Alabama, Georgia or Oklahoma, they all will have their work cut out for them. Davis is a local star. He lives right around the corner from the LSU campus. He is very familiar with the LSU program, he is close to the players and coaches there and he grew up a huge fan of the purple and gold.

"LSU football is all I knew when I was growing up, so I would watch them on television every week. I live right here, so it is like a home for me. I do love LSU.

"I was at four of their home games last season and I stay in contact with coach [Ed] Orgeron and coach [Tommie] Robinson, so I feel good about my commitment. I committed to them about three weeks after they offered me in the summer and I still feel good about it."

His eyes and ears are still open though. Davis does not get caught up in all the hype around his recruitment, the stars beside his name and things like that. He knows this decision is something that will affect him for the rest of his life.

"I am focused and I will stay focused on what I need to do," said Davis. "It is nice to be recruited and all that, but I am not one that pays attention to that or cares about that stuff. I am not going to get complacent.

"I am going to keep working to get better and to make the best decision for me and my family. I have to see what else is out there. I have to visit other schools. I have make the best decision to me.

"I think the LSU coaches are worried a little bit, but this is something I have to do. They know I am committed, but at the same time, I am still really open to everyone."
