Kolb makes a decision

Penn State's Class of 2010 continued to grow on Saturday, as the Nittany Lions added a verbal commitment from Burke (Va.) Lake Braddock offensive tackle Khamrone Kolb. The 6-foot-6, 300-pound Kolb committed following the Nittany Lions' 20-0 Homecoming win over Minnesota.

"I really didn't know if I was going to coming up yesterday, and I came in before the game, talked to some of the coaches and stuff and all the usual stuff, and after watching the game, I caught JoePa right before he went in for his interview," said Kolb. "It just came out."

The three-star prospect, who is rated the No. 15 prospect in the state according to VaPreps.com, couldn't pin down one reason why he picked the Nittany Lions.

"From all the things, with the coaches and stuff, besides all of that, everything I've ever heard about from ex-players and current players that are there now and how they treat everybody is great," he said. "I don't know exactly what it was that brought me to the college, because I'm not sure what I'm going to study major-wise, but Penn State is a big college, and it's perfect for that. There's so much that you can do.

"Also, from my home in Virginia it's not that far, not as far as some of the schools that I was looking at. So it's good that my family can see me. Right when I committed, I felt like I was part of the team, right then. Coach Kenney was like, 'that's the best new I've heard all day,' and he gave me a big hug.

"I don't know, I just felt it, I just felt the right vibe."

Kolb was recruited for the Nittany Lions by assistant coach Larry Johnson.

He becomes the fourth offensive line commitment for the Nittany Lions, joining tackle Thomas Ricketts and interior linemen Luke Graham and Miles Dieffenbach.
