Kersey makes a switch

Woodbury (N.J.) wide receiver Shawney Kersey was looking for a change, and it appears he has found what he was searching for.
The three-star prospect came to State College for an official visit on Friday, and made a verbal commitment to Penn State the same day.

He informed the Glouchester County Times of his decision via text message on Friday. BWI then confirmed his choice with sources on campus.
Kersey becomes the 24th member of the Penn State Class of 2009, and joins Curtis Drake, Brandon Felder, Christian Kuntz and Devon Smith as the wide receivers in the class. Current verbal Derrick Thomas is also listed as a possibility to play the position next year, as well.
The 6-foot-2, 193-pound Kersey originally committed to Rutgers back in June, but began looking around when close friend Gerald Hodges switched his verbal to Penn State.
NJVarsity.com rates Kersey as the No. 10 prospect in the Garden State, and Rivals.com had him at No. 8 in its preseason state rankings. He is also rated as the No. 55 wide receiver in the country by Rivals.com
