Former Lion QB Hall set to join PSU staff

When Steve Spurrier resigned as coach of the Washington Redskins in late December, a certain faction of the Penn State nation suggested the former Florida coach would be a good addition to the Nittany Lion staff.
It turns out a former Florida offensive whiz will be joining Joe Paterno’s crew. Just not the guy everyone was talking about a month and a half ago.

A source from NFL Europe and another from Penn State have confirmed to BWI that Galen Hall has been hired by the Nittany Lions. Hall, who quarterbacked PSU from 1959-61, played two seasons in the NFL and has more than three decades of coaching experience at the college and professional levels.
Penn State will release news of the hiring Wednesday.
He was the head coach at Florida from 1984-89 and has spent the last decade-plus coaching in NFL Europe the XFL and the NFL. He was slated to return to NFL Europe this season as offensive coordinator of the Rhein Fire, but reportedly informed the Fire that he was stepping down so he could take the position at Penn State.
The NFL Europe source said Hall signed a three-year contract to be offensive coordinator for the Nittany Lions. The Penn State source could not confirm that.
Hall is 63.
We will have more information as the story develops.
