Carter no longer with Penn State

A Penn State defensive lineman has been dismissed from the team.

The athletic department confirmed via statement that redshirt freshman tackle Kamonte Carter is being removed from the official roster due to a violation of team rules.

"Kam Carter was informed on April 21 that he is no longer a member of the Penn State football team for a violation of team rules," a university spokesperson said. "We appreciate Kam's contributions to the program and wish him success in the future."

Ranked as a four-star athlete coming out of Gaithersburg (Md.) High, Carter signed with PSU in the Class of 2015 as a defensive end. Now listed at 6-foot-4 and 305 pounds he grew into a defensive tackle and figured to factor into the rotation this fall, as the Nittany Lions work to replace two starters in the middle of the DL.

Rivals.com considered Carter the No. 5-ranked player in Maryland and the No. 11 athlete in country. A two-time captain in high school, Carter was a three-year letterman for Gaithersburg, playing defensive line, tight end and quarterback.
