Cain's father recaps Lasch Bash

Rivals100 running back Noah Cain was unable to make the trip to State College Saturday after moving back to IMG Academy in Florida to prep for the upcoming season. However, that didn’t stop his father, Terence Cain, and his mother from flying up to Happy Valley for the staff’s annual Lasch Bash barbecue.

Back in April, Cain and his father journeyed to Penn State for the first time for an unofficial visit. It was that trip that really put the Nittany Lions in the mix with Cain, but he knew the only way they’d truly become an option is if his mother approved of the school. Fortunately for the Lions, she did.

“Last time when we came, we knew we really wanted mom to come out here, before we setup any officials,” said Noah’s father, Terence Cain. “So, that’s a big reason we made this visit and mom really, really enjoyed it. She’s pleased and happy with the academics, the athletics, just the entire family atmosphere around the place. She likes the coaches and their families, too. It was a very good trip for us.”

Cain added, “They have a world-class academic program, an exceptional football program, a family friendly atmosphere and top-notch coaches and coaching. All of that is very important to us. His mom was well-pleased.”

In addition to the actual barbecue itself, Cain’s parents also got the opportunity to sit-down with head coach James Franklin in his office. That one-on-one discussion gave them a better feel for why their son is so important to not just Franklin, but the entire staff.

“Sitting down with Coach Franklin, he really explained to us why Noah is important to them. He said that it’s not just about him as a player, but also as a person," said Cain. "As a student-athlete, he loves his character and how he carries himself. He’s just one of those kids that will come in and be a great asset to the program.”

A Top 50 prospect, Cain has earned more than 30 scholarship offers. He took unofficial visits to Auburn, Clemson, Georgia and LSU this summer and is planning to take official visits this season. As of now, his Penn State official visit isn’t set in stone, but the family does have a date in mind.

“At the moment, we’re planning on visiting for the Wisconsin game, but that can still change," said Cain. "We know they also have a big event going on in the beginning of December, so if we aren’t able to make it for a game, we could return to Penn State for an official visit. But as far as games go, we want to make it for that Wisconsin game.”

A four-star prospect, Cain is currently the 49th-ranked prospect in the Class of 2019. He’s the third-ranked running back and the ninth-ranked prospect in Florida. Despite the fact that he shares the backfield with five-star running back Trey Sanders, Cain led IMG Academy in carries last season, totaling 86 rushes for 524 yards (6.1 YPC) in eight games, scoring six touchdowns.
