Bolden makes it twelve

A few years ago, it seemed that Penn State just couldn't win with its quarterback recruiting.
Now, it just seems too good to be true.

Orchard Lakes (Mich.) St. Mary's four-star signal-caller Robert Bolden added to the Nittany Lions' haul on Friday morning, when he selected Penn State over Louisville and Oregon in a 9:30 a.m. press conference. He joins Rivals100 quarterback Paul Jones in one of the nation's most formidable quarterback classes. Freshman gunslinger Kevin Newsome, a four-star prospect last year, is also waiting in the wings.
"I was able to sit down and talk with a lot of the coaches as well as players," he said. "I felt comfortable with all the coaches as well as the players. I got to hang out with the players and I saw all of the campus, it was beautiful. I loved it up there.
"With all that, the quarterback situation as well as the academic part of it, I felt like I could go ahead and make that choice. I felt comfortable enough to do it."
Bolden is rated by Rivals.com as the No. 6 dual-threat quarterback in the country, and is a four-star prospect just outside the Rivals250. He is part of one of the strongest quarterback classes in Michigan in recent history, along with Michigan verbal commitment Devin Gardner and Michigan State commitment Joe Boisture.
He also held offers from Colorado, Duke, Iowa, Missouri, Nebraska, Northwestern, Purdue, Vanderbilt, Virginia, Virginia Tech, West Virginia and Wisconsin.
As a junior, Bolden completed 72-of-113 passes for 951 yards and seven touchdowns, and ran for and additional 260 yards and three touchdowns. He earned all-area and all-Catholic honors in 2008.
Bolden visited Penn State twice since picking up an offer from the Nittany Lions in early April, which made 19 for the rising senior. He was most recently on campus for the Nittany Lions' senior prospect camp in late June.
