Allen jumps on PSU offer

Penn State added another prospect to its Class of 2014 on Friday with Upper Marlboro, Md. safety Marcus Allen officially committing to Penn State.
The three-star from Wise high school originally planned to wait a few months before deciding but changed his mind recently when he learned that the Nittany Lion coaching staff were potentially running low on scholarships.

"He's long, he's a hitter and he knows how to cover ground," said Wise head coach DaLawn Parrish. "He still has to grow into his body and he's already 6-2, 190. He's a hard worker, is extremely smart and always comes prepared for the game.
"When you surround that with the people Penn State already has, plus the coaching he's going to get there, you really do have the makings of success."
Allen had roughly 26 total verbal scholarship offers, including such programs as Clemson, Georgia tech, Maryland, Michigan, Michigan State, Nebraska, Pitt, Rutgers, Stanford, Virginia and Wisconsin.
He is the 29th ranked safety prospect overall. Allen was also a top performer at the Richmond Rivals Camp series presented by Under Armour.
He joins DaQuan Worley as the staff's only two defensive back verbal commitments.
Blue White Illustrated will have much more from Allen when he becomes available.
