2019 Rivals250 Released
Over half of Penn State's offers in the Class of 2019 are in the initial Rivals250.
Rivals.com released its first Rivals250 for the Class of 2019 Tuesday.
As expected, Penn State's top targets for next year's class were well represented, as the Nittany Lions have already extended 30 scholarship offers to prospects within the 250. For some perspective, Penn State has only handed out 59 offers total in the Class of 2019.
At the top of the list - players within the Rivals100 - there are 10 prospects that have already taken at least one unofficial visit to State College. DE Zach Harrison (No. 9 overall), LB Shane Lee (No. 29), Saf. DeMarcco Hellams (No. 63), OL Caedan Wallace (No. 79), LB Cade Stover (No. 96) and DE Brandon Smith (No. 100) were all just on campus last month, as they attended the Lasch Bash Barbecue July 15. In fact, all six of those prospects have taken multiple visits to Penn State over the past year. RB Devyn Ford (No. 10), DE Antonio Alfano (No. 57), OL John Olmstead (No. 59) and OL Will Putnam (No. 64) have also taken at least one visit to Penn State since the spring of 2016.
There are plenty of familiar names between 101-250, as well. DE Steven Faucheux (No. 109), DB Lewis Cine (No. 117), Ath. Ronnie Hickman (No. 128), OL Trevor Keegan (No. 141), DB Nyquee Hawkins (No. 172), DE Joseph Wete (No. 181) and QB Garrett Shrader (No. 184) have all been on campus at least once this summer. So far, Hickman and Hawkins have been on campus more than any other 2019 prospects. Hickman's visit last month was his fifth to Penn State since February, while Hawkins has already been on campus a dozen times when you include camps his freshman and sophomore year.
While it's expected to be a down year in Pennsylvania, Rivals.com has included three Keystone State prospects in its initial list: RB Patrick Garwo (No. 154), DE Omar Speights (No. 192), DB Tykee Smith (No. 244). So far, Penn State has not offered any 2019 prospects from Pennsylvania.
