Breneman out with injury
Adam Breneman is set to miss an extended period of time due to an undisclosed knee injury.Blue White Illustrated confirmed on Monday morning that sophomore tight end
Unfortunately for Breneman, knee injuries have been all to common these past few years. Back in high school, the former four-star prospect from Camp Hill, Pa. missed his entire senior season after tearing his anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee during a seven-on-seven match in August. Then, this past spring, he missed multiple practices and the Blue White Game due to a minor injury in his knee.
As of now, details weren't made available, but we do know the injury is to his left knee and has nothing to do with the previous ACL tear back in high school. This new injury is also not believed to be an ACL, which would guarantee that he misses the entire 2014 season.
Last season, Breneman totaled 15 receptions for 186 yards and three touchdowns, including a 68-yard touchdown in Penn State's season ending upset against then No. 14 Wisconsin.
Now, with Breneman set to miss an extended period of time, this does open up the door for either highly touted freshman Mike Gesicki or junior Brent Wilkerson, who has also battled with injuries over the past year. However, senior Kyle Carter and junior Jesse James are expected to receive the majority of reps.
