Kline suffers tough break
If Penn State couldn't afford an injury at linebacker through the course of the 2014 season, Tuesday's news was about as bad as it gets for the upcoming year.
Blue White Illustrated has confirmed what appears to be a season-ending Achilles tendon injury to redshirt junior linebacker Ben Kline.
Kline, of course, spent the winter coming off a season-ending shoulder injury sustained during the 2013 season and was forced out of spring practice. Though Kline refrained from talking about his progression back from injury at the time due to new head coach James Franklin's policy regarding injury discussion, he acknowledged after the Blue-White Game just how excited he was to return to the field this fall.
According to BWI sources, Kline apparently suffered the injury while participating in informal summer workout sessions.
For as bad as Kline's injury appears to be in terms of an already-limited situation for the Nittany Lions at linebacker, word out of Penn State's summer workout sessions is that Gary Wooten has looked good and, additionally, the beginning of Jason Cabinda and Troy Reeder's careers on Thursday couldn't come at a more urgent time.
Blue White Illustrated will continue to monitor this story as more information becomes available.
