Ofodile set for first PSU visit

BALTIMORE - For the record, it's "Oh-fah-dih-lay."

Alex Ofodile, a Rivals250, four-star wideout on hand for this weekend's Five-Star Challenge at M&T Stadium, took in the sights and sounds of Media Day. In the process, Missouri's No. 1-ranked player in the Class of 2015 simply rolled with it as his last-name got butchered.

Not a surprise, of course, coming from the nation's No. 126-ranked prospect with more important things on his mind starting this weekend.

Competing against some of the nation's top prospects the next two days, Ofodile is following his trip to Baltimore with a visit to Penn State set for June 10.

"Vanderbilt was my second offer that I ever had," Ofodile said. "I've known that coaching staff through this whole recruitment thing. I built a pretty good relationship with them. I know them pretty well and am pretty comfortable with the coaching staff, so I'm getting up to Penn State and checking things out."

Looking to make a decision between a group of schools that includes Penn State, Notre Dame, Oregon, Oklahoma, Missouri and Michigan State before the end of the summer, the Rock Bridge HS product said that receivers coach Josh Gattis has been recruiting him the hardest among the Nittany Lions' staff. IN general terms, however, Ofodile's overall impression of the staff has been a favorable one.

"They're fun. They're an exciting coaching staff, just seeing how their players interact with each other and how they interact with the coaching staff," he said. "It's definitely a fun environment and would be fun playing there."

According to Ofodile, he's looking to make a decision "at the latest, early-August, at the earliest, early-July" and has decided on a few particular traits he'd like to see at the college football program he winds up choosing.

"Definitely I want to go to a team that's going to pass the ball and is going to have good QBs to get me the ball," he said. "Just definitely how comfortable I am with the coaching staff and the players on the team."

And as for Penn State's current crop of outstanding young quarterbacks?

Said Ofodile, "They got guys that can throw it, so it's definitely a plus for them."
