Lions accept CBI invitation
The Penn State men's basketball Big Ten Tournament run ended with a disappointing loss to Minnesota last week, 63-56.
Sunday night, head coach Patrick Chambers and the Nittany Lions received the good news that it wouldn't be the end of their season though, earning a bid to the 16-team College Basketball Invitational tournament.
Though tip-off time has yet to be announced, the Nittany Lions (15-17 overall, 6-12 Big Ten) will face Hampton (18-12, 13-3 MEAC) at the Bryce Jordan Center in the first round of the tournament. The winner will face the winner of a matchup between Stony Brook and Siena.
"We are looking forward to the opportunity to play in the CBI," said Chambers via press release. "The team is grateful for chance to continue practicing together and ultimately having a chance to compete for a championship."
Tickets are set to go on sale at 10 a.m. Monday at $15 for adults, $5 for youth and Penn State students, and $12 for Penn State season ticket holders.
Chambers and the Nittany Lions will be available for interviews Monday afternoon.
