Frazier's double-double lifts Lions past Duquesne

In spite of foul trouble for the Nittany Lions early and often, a Tim Frazier double-double helped lift Penn State men's basketball to a 68-59 win Wednesday night against Duquesne at the CONSOL Energy Center in Pittsburgh.

Aided by 10 points from transfer guard Allen Roberts in the first half of his 15 point team-high effort, the Nittany Lions (8-3 overall) took a 35-26 lead in the half and extended their lead to as many as 20 points late in the second half against the Dukes (3-4).

Playing stout defense against the Dukes, only Ovie Soko really got going in an effort that saw the home team shoot just 27 percent from the floor for the game.

"We made 21 free throws, they took 10. We beat them on the glass and only had seven turnovers," Duquesne coach Jim Ferry said afterward. "You are supposed to win that game. If we just shoot 36 percent we can win that basketball game. When you shoot that poorly - 27 percent - that's a hard game to win."

Frazier's career-high assists, meanwhile, will keep him at the top of D1 hoops for the time being, boosting his season total to 85 for the season and an average of 7.7 dishes per game.

The Nittany Lions return to action on Saturday afternoon in the much-anticipated 'Return to Rec' game at the original home of Penn State men's basketball - Rec Hall.

Tip-off is at 2 p.m. against Princeton.
