Anderson joins Chambers' staff
Patrick Chambers formally announced the addition of Dwayne Anderson to his staff Tuesday afternoon. After an offseason that saw the departures of both his associate head coach, Eugene Burroughs, and director of player development, Adam Fisher, Nittany Lions' men's basketball coach
Anderson, a key contributor at guard under Jay Wright during Villanova's 2009 run to the Final Four, accepted his first collegiate assistant coaching job with Chambers following four seasons of playing professional basketball overseas.
"My family and I are very excited to join the Nittany Lion family and help the program as much as possible," Anderson said via press release. "Coach Chambers means the world to me. He is like family and I am excited for the opportunity to begin my coaching career working with him."
At Villanova, working with a then-assistant Chambers, Anderson was a team captain for both just junior and senior seasons, eventually averaging 9.0 points and 6.2 rebounds per game his senior season after rebounding from a foot fracture.
According to Chambers, the addition of Anderson will simply build on the winning culture he's trying to develop with the budding NIttany Lions' program.
"Dwayne is an absolute winner and a leader, and we are fortunate to have someone of his caliber joining our staff," Chambers said via press release. "He is fresh off a very successful playing career both in college and professionally in Europe and will be terrific connecting and communicating with the current and future players in our program."
