Lions lose Moo Moo

A source has confirmed to Blue White Illustrated that fourth-year senior wide receiver Devon Smith is no longer with the Nittany Lions.

No specific reason was given to BWI for the move, though a source claimed that Smith had his share of well-documented problems this spring.

Among Smith's problems included an issue surrounding a March incident in which marijuana residue was discovered in Smith's on-campus apartment, along with a severely sprained foot in spring practice.

Smith's status with the team appeared to be an ongoing question mark, though head coach Bill O'Brien had offered his support on multiple occasions throughout the Coaches Caravan in May.

Most recently, O'Brien talked about Smith's status with the team at the Coaches Vs. Cancer golf tournament at the Blue and White Golf Courses on June 1.

"At the end of the day we'll see what happens," O'Brien said. "If I have to make a discipline decision with Devon Smith, I'll keep it with Devon and I."

According to sources close to the team, members of the team are acutely aware of O'Brien's attitude toward disciplinary action.

"No messing around," a source said.

A three-year starter, Smith finishes his career at Penn State with 56 receptions for 795 yards and three touchdowns.
