Dixon wins big Friday; expects the same Saturday.

After nearly an hour rain delay in Leander, Tx, Ahmad Dixon and his Midway teammates made their way onto the field to take on Cedar Park (Tx) Vista Ridge on the wet A.C. Bible field. The game started out very close with both teams being tied with only a few minutes left in the half, until midway scored two quick passing touchdowns, one of which was caught by Dixon.

In the second half the Panthers proved why they are one of the top teams in central Texas by shutting down Vista Ridge running back Calvin Thompson, Levi Norwood returned a punt for a touchdown, and Shakiel Randolph returned an interception for a touchdown.

"We were able to be so successful because we had guys go down this week, and our backups stepped up and played real big," said Dixon. "They helped us come out with this big win."

Midway walked away with a 38-10 victory, but it could have been a lot worse. Dixon was all over the secondary and nearly came up with three interceptions.

"Two of them I just dropped, and one of them I thought I was interfered with," said Dixon. "It all worked out good because we got the win. None of that matters now."

College coaches were able to call prospects once again starting last Tuesday, and Dixon has received calls from a few schools, but the school that has kept in touch with him the most and developed a strong relationship is Baylor.

I talk with them weekly, sometimes two or three times a week. I keep in touch with coach Norwood every day," said Dixon. "He's family. To be honest with you, he's like a dad away from home. I have a real good relationship with him."

With his game now behind him, he expects another big win on Saturday afternoon as his future team takes on the Wake Forest Demon Deacons. Dixon said that he's going to find a place to watch the game and cheer on his future teammates.

"I'm hoping that they come out with a win," said Dixon. "I told coach Briles that my birthday was Saturday, so he said that would be my birthday present."

"I predict the score will be Wake Forest with a little, and Baylor with a lot," he said.
