Memphis sackmaster waiting on offers

There was a friendly competition last season between Ridgeway High School defensive ends Desi Lane and Justin Maclin.

But it was far from friendly for the quarterbacks that the duo brought down 36 times in 2008.

"Me and the other defensive end Justin Maclin compete to see who can get the most sacks," Lane said. "Last year I had 17 and he had 19 sacks."

Maclin is one of the most sought after prospects in the country holding a four-star rating and 10 offers. However, Lane is beginning to see his interest begin to manifest from some of the top programs in the country during the spring.

"A lot of coaches have been calling and coming up to the school," Lane said. "I've talked to a couple of schools like Louisville, Purdue, Kentucky, Western Kentucky, Ole Miss, Connecticut, LSU, Alabama and Miami. I'm still waiting on my first offer but whenever I get it they will probably jump to the top and be my number one."

There are two schools that Lane feels are close to an offer.
