Things Moving Fast for Emerging TE Standout

Just a few short months ago Mavin Saunders' coach told him that 'next season, things could get crazy'. The 6-foot-5, 233-pound star wasn't really sure whether to believe that possibility because the notoriety he stood to gain wasn't in a sport that he'd started to get serious about until recently.

The three-star prospect had spent much of his time focusing on basketball but as he talked more and more with Houston Kinkaid head football coach Stephen Hill and noticed the type of mail arriving he realized that his biggest dunks might come over goal posts rather than from free throw lines.

And though his coach was right, things have 'started to get crazy', with Saunders picking up roughly a dozen offers since a surprisingly stellar performance at the Rivals Camp Series presented by Under Armour in Houston in mid-March, it's safe to say that his timeline was off.

"It has surprised me and everyone that is involved in my recruitment, I know my coach told me that it could get crazy. He said during the season, but I'm not sure he thought it would be this early, it's a blessing and I'm thankful for it," Saunders said.

"A lot of people are realizing I'm probably going to lean toward football and more football offers are coming and I'm trying to work in more schools and learn more. But I have time, I'm not going to be making a decision soon or anything."
