Rumors have been swirling for several weeks about the status of Roger Lewis' commitment to Ohio State. The four-star wide receiver out of Pickerington (Ohio) Central High School has been committed to the Buckeyes since early August. On Thursday evening, BuckeyeGrove.com learned that Lewis will be exploring some other options before National Signing Day next Wednesday.

According to a well connected source, the 6-foot-1, 195-pound prospect will be making an official visit to Ohio University this weekend. According to that same source, Lewis intends to sign a Letter of Intent on National Signing Day, despite rumors about potentially being an academic casualty.

Lewis is one of the top rated wide receivers in the Midwest and was a participant in the Offense-Defense All-American Bowl this off-season. His strong performance during the O/D Bowl practice week and game was a major reason behind him recently picking up his fourth star from Rivals.com.

If Lewis should choose to pursue other opportunities, it would still leave Ohio State with three wide receivers in the 2012 class in Upper Arlington (Ohio) product Frank Epitropoulos, Lakeland (Fla.) product Ricquan Southward and Fork Union (Va.) product Michael Thomas. Of the three, Thomas is already enrolled at Ohio State.

BuckeyeGrove.com will continue to track this situation and provide new information as it is made available.
