Smith talks about his decision
Wide receiver Tevaun Smith had quite a journey to get to this point. The 6-foot-2, 186-pound Smith dominated his competition in high school, but since it was in Canada some questioned his competition. So the Toronto native made the move to a prep school in Connecticut this year, which paid off as three scholarship offers came in this fall. Tonight, Smith accepted one of those as he verbally committed to the Iowa Hawkeyes. He talks about his decision and much more.
Q: How did you arrive at your decision tonight?
SMITH: I just spoke with my parents about it tonight and they thought it really sounded like Iowa was the place for me, so I committed.
Q: What made it the place for you?
SMITH: Really, just the relationship we developed with the coaches. That was the big thing was getting to know the coaches and the people in the program. Everyone there is great.
Q: Who did you call when you made the commitment?
SMITH: I called Coach Ferentz first and then talked to Coach O'Keefe and Coach Campbell too.
Q: How did you tell them?
SMITH: I just told Coach Ferentz that I have some good news and he said, "Good news for me?" and I said, "Yep."
