Junior lineman enjoys game at Tech

The Hokies had a handful of prospects particularly for the 2012 class on campus this past weekend. Even though Tech lost to James Madison, one future line target had an enjoyable visit to Blacksburg.

"It was fun going up there," Lynchburg (Va.) Brookville 2012 defensive tackle Korren Kirven said. "I talked to Coach Beamer two or three times and that went well. They made sure to take me out on the field to talk to him.

"He just told me he was glad I could make it and he'll talk to me next time I come up there. He also asked that I send them my first three games."

How was the game in general?

"It was a pretty hyped atmosphere even though the rain was kind of hard," he said. "Everything else was good. I got to talk to Coach Stinespring a couple times and Coach Sherman along with the team chaplain. He's a pretty cool dude."

While on campus, Kirven met a few other recruits.

"I saw Caleb Farris up there and talked to Zack McCray at halftime," he said. "He just told me how he loved Tech."

Clearly Tech's interest is rising and other schools are as well.

"He's getting mail from Texas A&M, Alabama, and quite a few others now."

This weekend Kirven is eyeing a trip to Duke for an unofficial visit.

So far this season, Kirven has played both inside and out at the end. He has shown his versatility even playing some tight end as well.
