Timothy Cole puts A&M at the top

Brenham linebacker Timothy Cole made the short trip to College Station Sunday to take part in Texas A&M's one day camp. Even though school's out for the summer, Cole said he did a lot of learning in a short amount of time.

"I had a good time, and I learned a lot," he said. "I learned about the 3-4 defense. We run the 4-3, so I had to learn the differences. I think I caught on pretty well."

The 6 foot, one-inch, 207-lb. Cole said that, with the exception of the 40-yard dash, the rest of the camp went pretty well also.

"I think I did real well on one-on-ones and the linebacker drills," he said. "It wasn't my best 40 times; I ran a 4.81, but my best is a 4.68. I don't know what happened; I think I slipped when I started."

Cole spent most of the day working with inside linebackers coach Dat Nguyen, who left a strong impression on the 2012 recruit.

"Coach Nguyen looks like he knows what he's doing," he said. "He's a good coach and could teach me a lot. From what I hear, he was pretty good."

Cole said the highlight of the camp, for him, was a quick conversation with Aggie head coach Mike Sherman.

"I talked to coach Sherman, and he told me to keep doing what I'm doing, keep working hard," he said. "He also said he was looking forward to seeing me in the fall, that he'd be coming over to some games. That made me feel good."

Knowing that he had the attention of A&M's coaching staff means a great deal to Cole, who puts A&M at the top of his list of schools right now.

"This year, I've been over there five times. Since it's close to home, it really feels like I am at home. I feel like I belong there," he said. "Right now, they'd be number one. I like UT, but they haven't offered yet. They'd be two. I have an offer from Virginia, and I like Oklahoma, too."

Cole said that, while he hopes more offers will roll in, he's concentrating on the start of Brenham's football season.

"We're fixing to go deep in the playoffs; I'm hoping to go to the finals and win with this team," he said. "We've got lots of talent."
