Emerging 2012 star plans to camp at VT

Recruiting is picking up for an emerging prospect in the 2012 recruiting class. The Hokies plan to have the star recruit on campus for the second summer camp later this week.

"I'm going to Virginia Tech on July 10th," Norfolk (Va.) Norfolk Christian School 2012 linebacker Kwontie Moore said. "I want to go up there to see if I like it. I know a lot of people that go to Virginia Tech, Vinston Painter and a redshirt freshman, Telvion Clark from Granby. He's really cool. One of my coaches has a lot of relationships with Virginia Tech through Kam Chancellor. Also, one of my closest friends brother's goes to Virginia Tech now."

Moore recently landed his first offer from Virginia.

"I went to their camp on the 26th and it's a great opportunity to have an offer and hear that a college teams wants me," he said. "I went up there last season for a football game. They interest me."

While offers are just starting to come, the 6-foot-1, 240-pounder claims a few schools have caught his eye early.

"I like Virginia Tech, North Carolina, Virginia and Georgia," he said. "Those are the ones I've been around a lot, but there are more too.

"I have gotten a lot of interest and I'm keeping my options open. I've heard from South Carolina, Wake Forest, Florida, UCLA, Marshall and Auburn as well."

Originally from Alabama, Moore moved to Virginia in his seventh grade year. Since then he has evolved into a star prospect out of North Christian School.

"I was all-state and all-conference last year," he said. "I had 1,018-yards rushing and 500 yards receiving along with 98 tackles. I played really well on both sides of the ball.

"People say that I have a motor that's always running, they see me making every tackle. I guess my difference is skill wise and I encourage everybody, but I want to improve. I want to work on my speed and my coverage ability in one-on-ones."
