O'Brien's playbook runneth over

WASHINGTON - Armed with an actual playbook that he compares to a reference library, Penn State head coach Bill O'Brien and the Penn State coaching staff spent the spring implementing hand-selected portions of it with the offensive players.

At times overwhelmingly confusing to the Nittany Lions learning the system, both O'Brien and the players talked this spring about the goal of taking in as many terminologies and concepts as possible before refining them this summer.

Although O'Brien's offensive system may seem complex at the moment, he revealed that his aim for the upcoming season isn't simply an offensive system with incredible breadth. Instead, preseason camp will act as a chopping block of sorts.
