September 20, 2009 BWI Staff Talk about it in The Lions Den ESPN College GameDay host (and former State College resident) Chris Fowler revealed on his Twitter page this morning that the show would be coming to Happy Valley next weekend. "gameday off to St College for Iowa-PSU Saturday.. a semi-homecoming!" the Tweet said. With the No. 4-ranked Nittany Lions taking on the visiting Iowa Hawkeyes at Beaver Stadium for an 8 p.m. kickoff, this will mark the 12th time the show will air from a site Penn State is playing at. The show airs from 10 a.m. to noon and the site of the show has not been announced yet. The last two times the show has been in State College, the set was placed just outside the ticket offices at the Bryce Jordan Center. This weekend's game opens the Big Ten season for the Lions, but also carries plenty of significance and story lines beyond its importance to this season. Since 2000, the Hawkeyes have won six of seven games against the Nittany Lions, including last year's upset of then No. 3-ranked Penn State on the road in Iowa City. This year's occasion will be the fourth time the show is originating from Happy Valley and the third time since the 2005 season when the No. 16-ranked Nittany Lions took on No. 6-ranked Ohio State. The last time the GameDay crew came to Penn State was for the Nittany Lions' 2007 match-up with then No. 1-ranked Ohio State. While the latest polls have not been released, Iowa is expected to be ranked in the top 25 for this weekend's game.
