Thursday afternoon, they found out who they'll be competing against.
Following a foreign tour that will see Patrick Chambers' crew travel through Belgium, Paris and London between August 10-17, the Nittany Lions will return home to kick off the 2013-14 schedule against Northwood in an exhibition game on Sunday, November 3.
From there, it's all business as the Nittany Lions will face four teams that competed in the NCAA Tournament last season and another that made an NIT run a year ago.
"We are playing a very strong non-conference schedule that will test our team early and prepare us for Big Ten Conference play," Chambers said via press release. "We are thrilled to be going back to play in Philadelphia and Pittsburgh again this season and are looking forward to some great games in a beautiful arena in the Barclays Classic in Brooklyn."
The 2013 Barclays Center Classic which Chambers referred to will include two games at the Bryce Jordan Center against Longwood and Monmouth on Nov. 24 and Nov. 26, respectively, upon which the Nittany Lions will then travel to Brooklyn, N.Y., to face St. John's on Nov. 29, then either Mississippi or Georgia Tech in the second game on Saturday, Nov. 30.
This, of course, all coming before the Nittany Lions rekindle its relationship with rival Pittsburgh at the Peterson Center as part of the ACC/Big Ten Challenge on Dec. 3.
"We are excited to continue a tremendous rivalry with such a long and storied tradition between our two Universities," Chambers said. "It's great that we can be a part of an event that also matches the top two basketball conferences in the nation."
Penn State unofficially kicked off its 2013-14 campaign on Monday afternoon when the Nittany Lions met for the first of 10 NCAA-allotted practices in preparation for its foreign tour in August.
