November 15, 2011Florida wide receiver Greg Mabin came close to committing to Iowa on his official visit last month, but held off and decided to wait a bit. Now the time was right for the 6-foot-2, 190-pound Mabin as he gave his verbal pledge to the Hawkeyes this afternoon.
"I just committed to Iowa like five minutes ago," said Mabin via text message.
Mabin, who is a three-star prospect, attends Calvary Christian Academy in Fort Lauderdale. Through 10 games this season, he has 52 catches for 877 yards and 15 touchdowns in leading the Eagles to a 7-3 record. Along with Iowa, Mabin held scholarship offers from Tulane and Jacksonville State and had interest from Wisconsin and Vanderbilt, among others.
With Mabin on board, the Iowa coaching staff now has 11 commitments in the Class of 2012.
HawkeyeReport.com will have a full interview with Mabin later today.
