Davis ready for the national stage
With signing day 2008 in the books, the focus quickly turns to the Class of 2009 as the current juniors get ready to take the national stage. In the state of Iowa, there is no better place to start than Cedar Rapids Washington wide receiver Keenan Davis, who Rivals.com currently ranks among the top 100 prospects in the country.
Last weekend, the 6-foot-3, 195-pound Davis made the short drive to Iowa City to attend a junior day with the Hawkeyes. A visitor to three of Iowa's home games this past year, Davis also attended the Hawkeyes' junior day a year ago when he was a sophomore. While he has toured the campus and facilities several times now, the four-star prospect still enjoyed the visit.
As a junior, Davis hauled in 81 catches for 1,160 yards and 12 touchdowns in earning first team all-state honors. After picking up early offers from Iowa and Nebraska, he recently added one from Wisconsin and could be close to several more as well.
Currently, Davis is also hearing from Michigan, LSU, Ohio State, Clemson, Texas Tech, Kansas, Arizona State, and a number of others. As you might expect early on, he is most comfortable with the coaches at the nearby in-state school, but do not expect him to make an early decision. Davis plans to wait and make his official visits during his senior year.
Rivals.com currently ranks Davis as a four-star prospect and No. 61 player overall in the nation.
