Panther-lair.com # The Pitt Panthers (2-1) host the Connecticut Huskies (3-0) Saturday night at Heinz Field. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:00 pm. The game will be telecast nationally on ESPNU. #Former Pitt head coach Mike Gottfried will handle the color on the ESPNU telecast. Pitt was 26-17-2 when Gottfried was the head coach at Pitt. He led the Panthers to a pair bowl berths in 1987 and 1989.
# Pitt opened as an 8-point favorite over the Huskies.
# Connecticut leads the series 2-1 with each team having won at home. Pitt will be looking avenge a brutal double overtime lost at Connecticut last year by a score of 46-45. Pitt let a 14-point second half lead slip away. Pitt beat the Huskies 24-0 when they played at Heinz Field in 2005. # LeSean "Shady" McCoy is the first Pitt freshman running back to have back to back 100+ yards games since Curtis Martin did it in 1991.
