Tight end still lacking big time playmaker

The one position that still hasn't taken a step forward since head coach Bill Callahan has been in Lincoln is tight end.

Redshirt freshman Mike McNeill is the only Callahan recruited scholarship tight end on the roster at this point, and we've yet to see him play.

As Nebraska heads into summer conditioning, the tight end position still has several questions to answer. Here is a complete breakdown and grade out of the tight end position.

Overall grade: C-

There is nothing flashy about the tight end position when you look at it heading out of spring practice.

Senior J.B. Phillips is NU's best blocking tight end, but he lacks big play ability. Senior walk-on Sean Hill and junior walk-on Hunter Teafatiller will also play big roles in the offense this fall.
