Tar Heels discuss futures

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. - At North Carolina's annual men's basketball banquet Tuesday night, Tyler Hansbrough and Tywon Lawson announced that they will be returning to the Tar Heel lineup next season.

Hansbrough, who was named the team's Most Valuable Player for the 2006-2007 season, averaged 18.4 points and 7.9 rebounds per game, while Lawson, the team's starting point guard for most of the season, averaged 10.2 points and 5.6 assists per game.

"I'm not ready to take the next step for the NBA," Hansbrough said.

North Carolina's near miss in this past season's NCAA Tournament ultimately proved to be a significant factor in Hansbrough's choice, as he feels that he has some unfinished business to take care of in college while also better preparing himself for the next level.
