Final Four Battle
For Bill Self and the Kansas Jayhawks (33-4), the time is now. KU, the top seed in the West Region, is just one win away from advancing to the Final Four. Before the Hawks stamp their ticket to Atlanta, Ga., they'll have to get past the UCLA Bruins, who lost in last years National Championship game. Self is hoping his fourth trip to the Elite Eight is the charm, as he is currently 0-3 in the round of eight.
"I don't want to say it'd mean everything," said Self. "It's not life or death, but it'd mean a ton. Not just because, 'Bill got to a Final Four.' My dream is to take us there collectively.
"It'd be special because of what our players have been through, how hard they've worked," he added. "We have a big roadblock in front of us in UCLA (29-5), but I do think we're capable."
The Jayhawks are more than capable of advancing to the Final Four, which takes place next weekend in Atlanta, Ga. Under Self, Kansas has won 33-of-37 games down the stretch.
Most importantly, Kansas has won 14 straight games by an average of 18.6-points per contest. Of all the teams remaining in the Elite Eight, none are as hot as the Jayhawks at this time.
"We've been close and haven't got it done," said Self. This is the best team we've had. I'm jealous of the guys that get there. I mean, not jealous to the point I wished everybody lost and nobody got there, but I'm jealous to the point I want to be in that same arena."
